Worlds of DC gets ex-Disney boss to make ’10-year plan’

Disney’s ex-film executive Alan Horn hopes to change the worlds of DC by devising a decades-long plan similar to Marvel Studios’.

Given this week’s stunning bat girl News, Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav has assured investors that the empires of Henry Cavill’s Superman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman are in good hands – and revealed Horn’s involvement.

“These are brands that are known all over the world. We did a reset. We’ve restructured the business, where we’re going to be focused, where there’s going to be a team with a 10-year plan that’s just focused on DC. We believe we can build a much more sustainable business.

“It’s very similar to the structure that Alan Horn, Bob Iger, and Kevin Feige very effectively put together at Disney,” he continued (via The Hollywood Reporter).

“We believe we can build a much stronger, sustainable growth business out of DC. As part of this, we will focus on quality. We will not release any film until it is finished. DC is something we can improve on.”

Upcoming blockbusters Black Adam, The Lightning and Shazam! wrath of the gods were all name checked, with Zaslav implying during the shareholder call that WB is “very excited” for the audience to see them.

“We think they’re great and we think we can make them even better.”

The managing director also shared responsibility: “Some films will be released with shorter windows and with different marketing campaigns. But we will always be agile and the focus will be on cinema.

“The goal is to grow the DC brand. Growing the DC characters. But our job is also to protect the DC brand, and we will do that.”

Will the gap between Worlds of DC and the MCU finally be closed? We trust in Horn.
