Toys In Action brings the love of collectibles, toys and photography to Saratoga Springs – troyrecord

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – A toy photography and collectors fair called Toys in Action is coming to Spa City soon.

Combining a love of collectibles, toys and photography, this first-ever large-scale event, taking place Saturday, June 18 from 10am-7pm in downtown Saratoga Springs, strives to bring together some key players in an emerging art form.

“It’s about celebrating the art of toy photography,” said convention chair Harleen Dimopoulos, who shared that there’s a large online community of people participating in the activity.

Event attendees will have the opportunity to see instructional boards, exhibitors, autograph and photo sessions, and a variety of vendors offering attendees the opportunity to expand their gear and collections.

The work of these photographers is impressive, said Dimopoulos. “It’s crazy how someone can turn a six inch action figure into something that looks like an actual movie scene.”

Dimopoulos has also worked in the field of toy photography and has convention experience as a professional cosplayer.

She is also Chief Technology Officer of Learning Journeys, which created the Toys In Action Convention.

This locally based social enterprise focuses on education for all through globally traveling classrooms, and the idea for this unique convention came from Learning Journeys’ traveling classroom program, specializing in toy photography.

The goal for the future of Toys In Action is to make it an annual event. “We’re hoping to build it from the ground up – like every con – but this is the first one ever in the whole world,” Dimopoulos said, “so we’re hoping not just to bring more awareness to people convey what toy photography is, but we hope that people from all over the world will want to see it and come next year so we can expand to two or three days and get more guests and a bigger space.”
