But in Samaritan76 years old Sylvester Stallone proves that age is just a number for superheroes as he stars in the superhero movie Samaritan. Of course, starring in action movies isn’t a new venture for the Oscar-nominated actor. We all watched as Stallone put on his boxing gloves as he played Rocky Balboa Rocky Movie franchises and the Believe film franchise. We also saw him dodge bullets rambo franchises and the Expendables Franchise. Now Stallone plays a retired superhero in the new movie. Samaritan.


Samaritan takes place 20 years after a widely respected hero with superhuman powers named Samaritan mysteriously disappeared. Now that crime is taking back the city, the people are hungry for someone to help defend them against the threats. A young boy named Sam Cleary begins a search for Samaritan and in his search he begins to suspect that his silent neighbor Joe Smith may be more than he says and the long-missing superhero could be Samaritan. Sam tries to get Samaritan back in the fight scene.

In February 2019, MGM acquired the spec script for the film, which was written by Bragi F Schut. Schut wrote the screenplay before adapting the story into a series of graphic novels Markus Olivetand Renzo Podesta. Samaritan was directed by Julius Avery and produced by Sylvester Stallone and Braden Aftergood. Samaritan stars Sylvester Stallone, Javon “Do you want” Walton, Pilou Asbaek, Dasha Polanco, Martin Starr, Natacha Karam and Moses arias. The film was first announced in September 2019 and was originally planned for a 2020 release date. Filming began in February 2020 but production halted in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Amazon Prime Video has released the official trailer for Samaritan on July 27, 2022. The trailer introduces us to the fictional Granite City where crime and violence have taken over and it’s only a matter of time before the city implodes. Joe Smith (Stallone) seems to lead a normal life, working as a garbage man and watching the news like everyone else. But when he uses his powers to stop a group of bullies who are beating up a boy named Sam (Javon “Wanna” Walton), the boy takes an interest in Joe and is convinced that Joe the superhero is Samaritan, but is told that Samaritan died 25 years ago. Sam lives across from Joe and begins monitoring him, eventually confronting him. But of course Joe fires him and tells him that he just picks up garbage to make a living, but Sam is adamant. However, Joe’s cover is completely ruined when a car runs over him and he’s fine. Sam tries to get Joe to become a superhero again and help the town. Why did Joe stop being a Samaritan? Will he become a Samaritan again and help the town?

“Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. 25 years ago, Samaritan, Granite City’s super-powered vigilante, was reported dead after a violent warehouse fight with his rival Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in town, like Sam, hope he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to lure his neighbor out of hiding in order to save the city from collapse.”

Who is in the cast of Samaritan?

Rocky and Rambo star Sylvester Stallone as Samaritan/Joe Smith in Samaritan. Although Stallone is best known for his action franchises, he has also ventured into the superhero genre. Stallone played the role of Judge Dredd in the 1995 science fiction film. Judge Dredd. Asbæk has also appeared in films such as Ben Hur (2016) and Unexplored (2021). Moses Arias who is best known for his role as Rico in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana (2006 – 2011) stars in the film Reza Smith.

Dasha Polanco plays Isabelle. Polanco is best known for playing Dayanara “Daya” Diaz on the Netflix series Orange is the new black (2013 – 2019). Polanco has also appeared in critically acclaimed films such as joy (2015) and The Irishman (2019) and shows such as when they see us (2019) and Russian doll (2019 – present).

Other stars in the film include Martin Starr (freaks and geeks, Silicon Valley) and Natacha Karam (The Old Guard, The Hurricane Raid).
