Quantumania breaks Ant-Man’s own MCU tradition

Paul Rudd’s superhero has become a staple of the MCU since its inception, and his latest film aims to break an Ant-Man trend.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is one of the MCU’s most anticipated films, but it breaks an important trend when it comes to it ant man movies. Peyton Reed will direct again Quantumaniawhich will star Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang/Ant-Man for the first time since Avengers: Endgame and short Marvel’s What if…? Looks. Rudd is joined again by Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne/Wasp and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym in another adventure that will see the shrinking superheroes explore more of the quantum realm.

Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man has become an integral part of the MCU since its launch in 2015. Ant-Man’s unique powers derive from Hank Pym’s technology, which allows Lang to manipulate his size as he fights villains and allies with the Avengers. After being off screen since 2019, he will return Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in February 2023 as part of Phase 5 of the MCU, but the film’s scheduled release will change from the previous one ant man movies.

So far the ant man Movies have come at the end of the MCU phases, however Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will buck the trend by entering phase 5. ant man was the last film of phase 2, and Ant Man and the Wasp came towards the end of phase 3, but both should probably have started the following phases. For example, phase 2 of the MCU should have ended with Avengers: Age of Ultron Given that the chapter focused on the original MCU Avengers, but instead ant man was the last movie. Instead of finishing phase 2, ant man introduced new characters and crucial new concepts, such as B. the Quantum Empire, which had important implications across the line, such as: Avengers: EndgameTime waster, so it would probably have been more appropriate to start phase 3. Given that Ant-Man’s films tend to build major MCU storylines, it’s a good decision to do so Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania open phase 5.

Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania New Poster

Kang the Conqueror will be the main villain Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and is the main reason the film will open Phase 5. Played by Jonathan Majors, Kang is set to be the MCU’s main villain and Thanos stand-in for the entire Multiverse saga (phases 4 to 6). “He Who Remains” first appeared in Loki where he was introduced as a variant of the Multiverse Conqueror. At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, majors pledged that the conquest would continue ant man 3, which Ant-Man and the Wasp will find out on their journey through the quantum realm. The Majors’ warning will likely come true as the MCU works to make Kang a believable bully Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2025.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will also continue the trend of Phase 4 to introduce the new generation of Avengers. Kathryn Newton will play Cassie Lang, Scott’s daughter who is ready to dress up and enter the dangerous quantum realm after years of trying to save people like her father. ant man 3 will also introduce new characters that could have a major impact on Phase 5, most notably MODOK, one of the most well-known Avenger villains from Marvel Comics. The Quantum Realm opens up endless possibilities for the MCU to introduce new storylines and ideas about what makes Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania a natural complement to open phase 5.
