The sci-fi drama, which comes from showrunner Andrew Dabb, stars Reddick, supported by a cast that includes Balinska, Tamara Smart, Turlough Convery, Tetiana Gaidar, Connor Gosatti, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuñez and Hanni Heinrich.

The preview features The Hillside Singers’ 1971 classic, I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing (In Perfect Harmony), notoriously repurposed for Coca-Cola commercials.

The series is the latest adaptation of the popular video game series that first appeared in 1996.

Dabb, who spoke to reporters about the project this week, said that Resident Evil “games are the backstory” for the upcoming streaming series, Gizmodo reported.

“So everything that happened in the games happened in this world in the timeline it happened in,” Dabb said.

Dabb said the series incorporates elements of Paul WS Anderson’s Resident Evil films, with an emphasis on depicting previously unseen stages in a zombie apocalypse.

“What we’ve seen many times before [in zombie movies] are the days, the weeks, even the months after,’ said Dabb. “But what we haven’t seen a lot is the introduction, because the movie usually starts when the zombies show up, right?

“Before that, it doesn’t really start. And then we didn’t see what the world would be like if it came to terms with what happened. Humanity is adaptable and we adapt to many things.’

He continued, “We’re literally adapting to COVID right now. We would adapt to a zombie outbreak. It may not be pretty and it may not look like Los Angeles 2023, but we would.
