What are the JUNO Awards?

The JUNO Awards recognize Canada’s best and brightest recording artists across a range of categories. Similar to the Grammy Awards, the JUNOs honor Album of the Year and Single of the Year (the equivalent of Grammy’s Record of the Year).

In contrast to the Grammys, in addition to a “Fan Choice” award chosen by the fans, there is also a Top JUNO award as “Artist of the Year”.

Established in 1970 as the “Gold Leaf Awards,” the JUNOs were later renamed in honor of Pierre Juneau, the first Chairman of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).
