Harry Styles movies: every upcoming role on screen

After making his film debut in Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning war film Dunkirk, Harry Styles is really pushing his acting career. Here’s a guide to every role he has in the pipeline, plus a few others that are heavily rumoured.

Directed by book smart‘s Olivia Wilde, this mysterious psychological thriller, premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in early September. Styles plays Jack Chambers, a young man who lives and works in a prosperous 1950s California town. Florence Pugh plays Jack’s wife, Alice, who begins to suspect their affluent community isn’t quite as idyllic as it seems.

In an Instagram post shared in February 2021, Wilde revealed that Styles’ role is a supportive one and praised his ego-free approach. “Not only did he relish the opportunity to star the brilliant @florencepugh as our ‘Alice’, but he infused every scene with a nuanced sense of humanity,” she wrote. “He didn’t have to join our circus, but he jumped on board with humility and grace and blew us away every day with his talent, warmth and ability to reverse.”

Before its premiere in Venice don’t worry darling was plagued by rumors of a rift between Pugh and Wilde. This is said to be at least partly due to the director’s alleged romantic relationship with Styles and the way it played out on set. It remains to be seen if this negative press will overshadow the film’s release.

Styles has top performances in this romantic drama set in 1950s Brighton. He plays Tom Burgess, a police officer who falls in love with museum curator Patrick Hazlewood (David Dawson) while male homosexuality is outlawed in Britain. As a result, Styles’ character agrees to marry Marion Taylor (Emma Corrin), a school teacher who has fallen in love with him, creating an unstable and potentially toxic love triangle.

my cop is based on a 2012 novel by Bethan Roberts and is directed by theater veteran Michael Grandage. movie review with Rolling Stone in August, Styles said, “It’s not like, ‘This is a gay story about these guys being gay.’ It’s about love and wasted time for me.”

He also suggested that the film will offer a different portrayal of same-sex relationships than viewers are used to. “So much of the gay sex in the movie is two guys taking it on and it kind of takes the tenderness out of him,” Styles said. “I would imagine there will be some people watching it who were very much alive during that time when it was illegal to be gay, and [Michael] wanted to show that it is tender and loving and sensitive.”

Eternal 2

Last year, Styles had an unexpected cameo appearance eternal, an ambitious Marvel superhero film directed by Nomadland’s Chloé Zhao. He appeared in a mid-credits sequence as Eros/Starfox, a superhero who has the power to control other people’s emotions.

Styles opened up about his short but sweet role dazed last year: “I’m just there [it] at the very end. But who didn’t grow up wanting to be a superhero? It was a great experience and I’m so grateful to have worked with Chloé.”

A sequel to eternal is a work in progress now, but there’s no word yet on whether Styles will definitely be included. It was reported by Huge freakin robot in July that Styles is “currently trying to compete in an upcoming Star Wars show,” according to “trusted and proven sources.” Fans were understandably super excited, but Styles has since debunked and denied the rumours Rolling Stone: “This is the first time I’ve heard about it. In August 2020, the film distributor Vértice Cine published on its website that Styles and Brad Pitt had been cast Faster, cheaper, bettera new movie by Moth Director Dan Gilroy. It appears to be a sci-fi tale — a brief synopsis of the plot on the film’s IMDb page teases: “The lives of a union foreman, a young entrepreneur, an indoor farm manager and a tech billionaire are turned upside down when automation and AI change the world as we know it.”

However, shortly after Vértice Cine’s early announcement, sources said vanity fair that neither Styles nor Pitt will actually star in the film. Two years later, Styles’ involvement in this project remains very “tbc”.
