One of the most recent examples of this trend is the new Scream Film which was a box office success when it hit theaters in January. A sequel was quickly greenlit, and now four actors have been confirmed for their return as the first synopsis arrives online.
The newest Scream Film was made by helmed Ready or Not Filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, who have crafted a new story with deep connections to the first four Wes Craven films. Ghostface left a surprising number of survivors alive, and four of them have been confirmed to return scream 6. For his part, Neve Campbell appears to be in touch with the folks behind the developing sixth Scream Movie. Last we heard from the icon craft Actress, she was waiting to get a script for the new slasher. Hopefully this process goes as planned and we get to see the franchise’s two OGs back on the big screen. This is especially true since David Arquettes Dewey was killed in the last sequel.
Still the four actors recently confirmed Scream definitely made a strong impression on fans with the last film. Audiences were thrilled that Randy’s niece and nephew were in the cast as twins, and his sister out scream 3 (Heather Matarazzo) even returned for a brief scene. Melissa Barrera’s Sam eventually became the daughter of Billy Loomis, and Jenna Ortega has proven herself with roles in projects like Modern Scream Queen Xand The babysitter 2.
From the look of the first synopsis, the next Scream movie could move away from the iconic Woodsboro setting. Wes Craven did this in the first two sequels, which followed Sidney in college and Los Angeles respectively. Given the bloodbath that scream 5I can’t blame the two pairs of siblings for wanting to move away.
