Only murders in the building Season 2 started production on December 1, 2021, according to a Twitter post by Steve Martin. There’s no official source or social media source to confirm when Season 2 wrapped filming, but it was likely sometime before March 25 when the season’s premiere date was officially announced.

What is Only Murders in the Building season 2 about?

John Hoffmanwho helped create Only murders in the building with Steve Martin, has confirmed that this new season will explore the history and architecture of the Arconia. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Hoffman explained that he and the other writers on the series have always been interested in “this understanding of place and time and history and how life in places like that is lived — in a communal way, in an apartment building — with mystery and great secrets that flow into them.”

Hoffman has also hinted that the story could go new locations outside of Arconia in the second season. Season 2 will also introduce Martin’s Charles-Haden Savage’s father through flashbacks that somehow tie into the Arconia story. Hoffman said these flashbacks are all part of the series-long mission to “know the history of each of these individuals with the building… the mysteries that unfold. There are the unknowns that surprise you emotionally.”

After the shocking death of Arconia CEO Bunny Fogler, Charles, Oliver and Mabel try to uncover their killer. However, three (unfortunate) complications arise – the trio become publicly implicated in Bunny’s murder, they are now the subject of a competing podcast, and they must contend with a group of New York neighbors who all believe they have committed murder.

Will season 3 only feature Murders in the Building?

On March 30, 2022, Selena Gomez shared a TikTok video that she, Steve Martin and Martin Short toasted to Only murders in the building Season 2. “Have a great season 2,” Gomez and Short exclaim before Martin exclaims, “Have a great season 3!” Gomez then replies, “No, fine. Okay, fine, hopefully,” to which Martin adds, in between, ” Well, next year.”

Although Season 3 hasn’t been officially announced as of this writing, Gomez’s funny little TikTok video suggests there will indeed be more murders in the building after Season 2.
